I have been playing the uilleann pipes since 2004, and I'm still loving (nearly) every minute of it. Playing traditional Irish music is one of my true passions in life. Many people ask me why I chose to play the uilleann pipes. Well, I am not sure if I chose the pipes or if the pipes chose me! When I heard a Chieftains album for the first time, I fell in love with the pipes. They called out my name, as it were. I bought a practice set and was fortunate to find someone to teach me how to play. The kindest, most gracious person I have ever known, Ed Harrison (1936-2012), taught me for the first seven years of my musical career. Without his guidance, I would not be playing today.
